At present, 60 traffic signals are operational across Nashik city
To overcome these roadblocks, police commissionerate has told NMC and Nashik Smart City to establish technical coordination and interface all 60 signals into one central command structure. Nashik : Nashik CP Sandeep Karnik has appealed to Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) to establish a unified central command and control system for all traffic signals across the city, with access for the traffic police. The appeal comes in response to Nashik’s increasing population, rapid urban development, and escalating vehicular congestion on key arterial roads, where police authorities emphasise that a synchronised, technology-backed network is becoming essential for daily traffic regulation. Since both entities operate on independent central command platforms, the traffic police face severe operational hurdles on the ground. Without a single dashboard, authorities struggle to monitor citywide traffic in real time or quickly adjust signal cycle and green light durations to clear sudden gridlocks. The police department has also requested direct operational access to this unified interface, paving the way for a faster, smarter, and far more effective traffic control network across Nashik. CP also stressed that a centralised framework is even more critical given the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela. The event will bring a massive influx of pilgrim vehicles, emergency traffic, and high-profile visits to the city, making seamless traffic management vital.
