The TCS case registered with the Deolali Camp police station in March this year
Senior officials said apart from Jaleel, there are 10 others, including a woman, are named in the case. The woman had evaded arrest and was traced to Sambhajinagar on May 7.
Jaleel told reporters in Sambhajinagar that he had been to Nashik thrice after being called by police. He said he had earlier spoken about the circumstances through which the accused woman was going. Jaleel said that at that time the woman’s bail application was pending and hence, his role was limited to offering her legal assistance. Jaleel said that the court would decide if he was guilty or not. Adv Abaysinh Bhosle, who is representing Jaleel, told TOI that the ex-MP’s name featured in the supplementary chargesheet filed late last month. “The former MP has given his statement and also his voice sample between Sept 11 and 17,” Bhosle said.
Nashik : Police have added former AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel’s name to the first supplementary chargesheet filed in connection with the TCS case registered with the Deolali Camp police station in March this year. After her arrest, Nashik police had added the name of an AIMIM corporator from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to the case, alleging that he helped to provide her shelter.
Assistant commissioner of police Sandeep Mitke (crime), who is heading the investigation in the case, said, “The former AIMIM MP from Sambhajinagar was made one of the 11 accused in the case after his role was established in helping provide shelter to her when she was on the run. We have also taken his statement with respect to his involvement in the case.”
