Nashik : The Crime Branch Unit 1 of Nashik city police arrested two suspects in connection with a broad-daylight firing incident in Adgaon on Oct 18.
A 31-year-old farmer had a narrow escape when two bike-borne men allegedly chased him and fired two rounds at him in the afternoon. The case was registered at Adgaon police station under sections 109(1) (attempt to murder) and 3(5) (criminal act by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with sections 3/25 of the Arms Act. Acting on a tip-off received by police personnel Pravin Waghmare and Vishal Devare, a police team intercepted and arrested Rahul Ambekar (35) and Vikas Waluba Sonawane (25) near Kushire Mala on Ramwadi Road in Nashik.
Police registered an attempt to murder case and launched a manhunt. Both shots missed the target, and the farmer escaped unhurt.
The prime suspect and the farmer’s wife had worked at the same company, according to police. A dispute arose between them, following which the farmer’s family asked his wife to quit the job. However, the suspect allegedly continued to harbour a grudge.
