Nashik : The health department has suspended Nashik district health: The wider industry impact

Nashik : The health department has suspended Nashik district health officer (DHO), Dr Sudhakar More, and the charge of DHO has been given to Dr Rajendra Bagul.

Nashik zilla parishad (ZP) CEO, Omkar Pawar , said that the DHO’s suspension was against the backdrop of several complaints made against him made, during the recent visit of state health minister Prakash Abitkar. During his visit, he came across multiple lapses in the functioning of the govt healthcare facilities, and had also expressed displeasure over negligence in patient care and administrative shortcomings. Abitkar had also spotted poor sanitation at hospitals in Dhule and Malegaon, failure of health officials to orient Jan Arogya committee members about their responsibilities, non-compliance with guidelines and irregular committee meetings. One health officer was also held responsible for failing to take effective action against quacks operating in his jurisdiction. The minister ordered action against ten medical officials and staff for alleged dereliction of duty, operational irregularities and negligence in patient care. DHO Sudhakar More was also held responsible for irregularities in the implementation of the Jan Kalyan Samiti, delays in the payment of outsourced contract staff salaries and issues related to medicines and laboratory tests at the Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Aapla Dawakhana. An enquiry was set up at the health ministry level, leading to More’s suspension. Senior officers in the health department did not elaborate on this matter further. Download the TOI App.
