NAVI MUMBAI: A 43-year-old labour contractor was arrested by Nerul police within six hours of registering an FIR of attempt to murder against him for attacking his competitor contractor by slashing him multiple times with a knife and causing him severe injuries on Monday morning in Shiravane village. Sanjay Lad, police inspector (Admin) of Nerul informed that, on Monday around 7.30am, the accused Rajput went to Mahendra Maharaj Sweet Mart and Caterers located at a plot in Shiravane village, where he argued with Khan for taking over his contract with the caterer by supplying his labourers. “Our police team reached the station and apprehended him around 5.30pm, before he could board the long distance train to escape to UP.
The police team apprehended the accused at Bandra railway terminus, while he was attempting to escape to his home town in UP. But, later Khan left the job and started his own business as a contractor for supplying labourers and had managed to take over Rajput’s contract with a caterer in Shiravane village. Hence, Rajput had nursed a grudge against Khan, informed the police.
On Tuesday, he was produced before the Belapur JMFC court that him to police custody for six days,” Lad added.
The victim contractor identified as Rafiq Amiruddin Khan, 40, a resident of Mumbra, Thane was previously an employee of the accused contractor Sanjay Rajput.
Officilas said that the accused’s mobile was found switched off as he had discarded his mobile number provided by the victim. Later, his mobile was switched on as he inserted another SIM card.
