Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : Aurangabad division graduates’ constituency election is likely to become a battle between Sharad Pawar ’s NCP (SP) and Sunetra Pawar-led NCP, despite a triangular contest involving Shiv Sena (UBT). The election, the first major poll battle in Marathwada since deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar’s death, has put the two NCP factions in a contest to establish their claim to the party’s legacy among the region’s educated voters. NCP (SP) has fielded Pratapsinh Patil against three-term MLC and NCP candidate Satish Chavan. Patil listed affordable and quality education, employment generation, industrial development and pending issues faced by graduates as his agenda. Chavan, who began his campaign even before NCP and BJP settled their seat-sharing, has been touring Marathwada to strengthen his connect with voters and party workers. Chavan breathed a sigh of relief after BJP rebel MK Deshmukh withdrew after persuasion by senior leaders. However, a section of the BJP camp is upset that the party conceded the seat to NCP, and many members have not been seen campaigning with Chavan.
