Mumbai: Maharashtra Nodal Cyber, while assisting Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar police in a digital arrest fraud case involving a 74-year-old woman allegedly cheated of nearly Rs 3 crore, helped identify and rescue another elderly woman in Delhi who was being targeted by the cyber fraudsters. Officials said the Delhi victim had already transferred around Rs 27 lakh to the accused. Cyber police traced Rs 89 lakh of the defrauded amount to a mule account and detected a fresh RTGS credit of Rs 14 lakh from another individual through a private bank.
An FIR is being registered in connection with the case,” said an officer from Nodal Cyber. The breakthrough came during a technical analysis of financial transactions linked to the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar case. “Our team immediately alerted Delhi police and shared the technical intelligence and transaction details. Delhi police traced and rescued the woman from the ongoing digital arrest fraud, preventing further financial losses.
Suspecting that the sender could be another victim of the same fraud network, the cyber team traced the transaction and immediately sought the sender’s KYC details from the bank. The investigation established that the account holder was a woman residing in New Delhi.
