NMC has created 419 artificial immersion tanks across the city, including larger facilities at Gorewada, Police Line Takli, Kacchi Visa in Lakadganj and Koradi for large idols. The civic body has deployed 18 Nirmalya Raths to collect floral offerings and other waste generated during Ganeshotsav.

The facility can be accessed by scanning the QR code on NMC’s website or visiting https://ganpati-zone-map.emergent.host . The portal provides turn-by-turn navigation to the designated immersion sites. Smaller tanks have been installed at various locations for smaller idols. Mayor Thakre flagged off the vehicles at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Administrative Building. The initiative is aimed at ensuring the proper collection and disposal of Nirmalya during the festival.
Mayor Neeta Thakre, who inaugurated the artificial tanks at Futala Lake on Monday, urged citizens to use the facilities instead of immersing idols in lakes, wells or drains.
