The Nashik city police crime branch, along with the Gangapur police station, has apprehended four individuals linked to an inter-state housebreaking gang. This operation has led to the resolution of 32 burglary cases across the region. The arrests mark a significant step in addressing the rising incidents of property crime in Nashik.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Chandrakant alias Baba Rajendra Patil (22), Milind Sanjay Khairnar (32), Balkrishna Gopi alias Jitu Gokul Jadhav (31) and Saurabh Prakash Mahajan (28). Police recovered stolen items valued at over Rs17 lakh, that include 130gms of gold, over 3.2kg of silver, 26 fake car registration plates, and specialised break-in tools. The gang operated primarily during daytime across Maharashtra and Gujarat, with over 72 past burglary cases registered against them. Out of the 32 newly solved burglaries, 20 belong to the Gangapur police jurisdiction, six to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, with several cases across Amravati. DCP (Crime), Kirankumar Chavan said that a case of theft was registered with the Gangapur police station on June 21 in which, unidentified burglars had decamped with cash and jewellery, worth Rs13.8 lakh from two housebreaking cases.
During investigation, the police gathered information about the unidentified burglars, and the burglars were arrested based on technical analysis Chavan said that the police were taking efforts to detect all cases of thefts and other property offences. The police team tracked the suspects over a ten-day operation across Surat, Jalgaon, and Buldhana by monitoring their social media activity and using technical analysis. The Gangapur police and the crime branch hence, focused on detecting housebreaking cases occurring during daytime. Under CP Sandeep Karnik’s guidance, police teams are working to investigate all property and body offences registered with city police stations.
