NAVI MUMBAI/VASAI: The Panvel city police have arrested the Vasai block education officer for allegedly cheating a resident of Karanjade village in Panvel taluka, by accepting Rs 31.17 lakh by false assurance of securing a permanent job for his daughter at a government bank. The accused identified as Chhatarsingh Rajput, 55, was arrested on August 15 in the criminal case registered against him and his aide identified as Anil Kumbhar on August 8. The Panvel court remanded Rajput to police custody till August 19.
Patil said, “The complainant stated that when he questioned Rajput why his daughter was being paid salary by the private company and not by the bank. Also, the status of his daughter’s permanent job at the government bank, he gave evasive replies. Hence, Jadhav lodged a complaint at Panvel city police station. “The complaint was forwarded to the zonal DCP and after obtaining permission, an FIR of cheating and criminal breach of trust was registered against the accused Rajput and Kachare. Following which the accused Rajput was arrested from his residence in Vasai,” Patil added further.
