Pune: A 20-year-old died as a tractor ran over him while returning from Ganapati immersion towards Ramtekdi on BT Kawade Road on Friday evening. Senior inspector Pandit Rejitwad of Wanowrie police said Pawar and his two friends were trying to catch the tractor-trolley. Police identified the deceased as Vighnesh Santosh Pawar of Ramtekdi. The tractor-trolley was returning after Ganapati immersion when the incident took place. “The vehicle was in motion while they tried to board it. Two of his friends successfully climbed on the trolley, but Pawar fell while trying to catch it and landed beneath the wheels. He was rushed to Sassoon Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. “We have obtained the CCTV footage of the accident. The tractor driver was not aware of the youth trying to climb the running vehicle. The youth did not belong to the mandal whose tractor they tried to climb on. We have registered an accidental death report (ADR),” Rejitwad added. Download the TOI App.
