Pune: A 65-year-old farmer from Indapur and his wife were reportedly assaulted by their two sons on August 30. The incident occurred while the couple was out for an evening walk. The altercation stemmed from a disagreement over the sale of a parcel of land that belonged to the couple’s mother. Witnesses have indicated that the sons used wooden sticks during the attack, leading to allegations of abuse and violence within the family.

The farmer’s sons have been charged under sections 118 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An officer from the Indapur police said the farmer had taken his ailing wife out for a walk on Aug 30.
