Pune: A tour operator and travel agent allegedly duped a 60-year-old woman from Kalewadi of Rs11 lakh by promising to arrange her Haj pilgrimage. An officer from Kalewadi police said the complainant and her father wanted to undertake the Haj pilgrimage. “After repeated follow-ups, when the accused did not return the money, she approached the police and lodged a complaint,” the officer said. In March this year, an agent from a tour-operating firm in Kalewadi approached her and promised to arrange their pilgrimage. “The accused took Rs11 lakh from the woman, which she transferred to the tour company’s bank account. The accused did not arrange the pilgrimage. The woman then started demanding her money back. Download the TOI App.
Kalewadi police on Wednesday registered a case against the accused based on a complaint from the woman.
