Pune: Metro will run three hours beyond the normal closing time during Ganeshotsav, with trains operating till 2am from Sept 17 to 24 to facilitate devotees visiting Ganesh mandals across the city. On the final day of the festival, Sept 25, extended services will be available on both Metro routes. Announcing the special schedule on Wednesday, Maha Metro said trains would continue to operate on regular timings of 6am to 11pm on Sept 14, 15 and 16. From Sept 17 onwards, services will be extended till 2am.
At Mandai station, Maha Metro has introduced separate entry and exit arrangements for crowd management. The officials said the measures had been planned to ensure smoother movement of devotees and manage heavy footfall during the eight-day period of extended Metro operations. Commuters have been advised to use Kasba Peth, PMC, Deccan Gymkhana and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Garden Metro stations to access major Ganesh mandals and avoid overcrowding at Mandai station. The move is also expected to ease congestion at the Civil Court interchange station. Passengers will be allowed entry through the gate facing Mandai near the Lokmanya Tilak statue, while exits will be routed through the station gate towards Shivaji Road. Download the TOI App.
