Pune: Police have banned the use of drones to record Ganapati mandals and festivities in old parts of the city.
They have been allowed to use loudspeakers and music systems on Sept 19, 20, 22, 23 and 25. As a result, major Ganesh pandals and immersion routes in the city are likely to witness large crowds until late at night on these days. Pune commissioner of police (CP) Amitesh Kumar issued an order in this regard. If drones are spotted flying and shooting without permission, those will be seized. A special drone seizure team has been deployed in the city who will closely monitor drone movement in crowded places, particularly near Ganesh pandals and along immersion procession routes. Considering the crowds during the Ganesh festival, permission has been granted to mandals to keep the decorative pandals open until midnight. Against this backdrop, the police have kept a special mechanism ready to ensure effective implementation of the drone ban. Download the TOI App.
