Pune: Pune is the natural choice for global capability centres to set up their offices, said chief minister Devendra Fadnavis , owing to its IT ecosystem. Fadnavis said the state govt is working towards developing the city as a GCC hub While speaking at a ‘Why not Pune?’ dialogue organised by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Monday.
The state govt has formulated the GCC policy with the objective of attracting around 400 new GCCs and creating 4 lakh high-skill jobs.
In a GCC conference held in Aug, Fadnavis had said that the state will have to develop Nashik, Nagpur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar as the next frontier beyond the existing cities for the GCC ecosystem. Inviting the industry to offer their suggestions, Fadnavis said, “If you have any problems, or feel that some changes are needed in the policy, we are absolutely open for such interventions. It is intended for industry leaders to share their suggestions and expectations, thereby enabling the city’s development plans to become more practical, responsive, and industry-oriented,” PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said. Ram said suggestions and expectations mentioned during the dialogue will be put into an action plan and subsequently, the relevant ideas will be reviewed to ensure their implementation and follow-up.
“The primary objective of this initiative is to bridge the communication gap between the industry and the administration. “This will encourage to improve Pune’s ecosystem. May it be GCCs, technology, innovation, skilled manpower or future economic development.”
