Pune: Unidentified thieves broke into a sari showroom off Bhandarkar Road and an eatery near Law College Road and made off with cash totalling Rs 1 lakh. An officer from Deccan Gymkhana police said the accused broke the shutter of the sari showroom and stole Rs 25,000 from the cash counter and Rs 55,000 from a locker in the owner’s cabin. “The accused also broke the shutter of the eatery on Law College Road and stole Rs 20,000 from the cash counter.

“We have collected the CCTV footage from the crime scenes and are investigating further,” the officer said. The thefts happened in the early hours of Thursday. The owner of the sari showroom lodged a complaint with Deccan Gymkhana police. Prima facie, the police believe the same accused were involved in both burglaries. Download the TOI App.
