No injuries were reported. Thane: Traffic on the Ghodbunder Highway towards Majiwada was disrupted for nearly an hour on Saturday afternoon after a container truck’s cabin caught fire near the Manpada flyover.
The incident occurred around 1.30 pm as the truck, carrying an empty container from Vasai to Pune, was ascending the flyover, according to the Regional Disaster Management Cell. Teams from Kasarvadavali police, traffic police, the Disaster Management Cell and the fire brigade rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control within 30 minutes.
Officials said the cause of the fire would be investigated. The cabin was completely gutted. The fire forced authorities to temporarily halt traffic on the Majiwada-bound carriageway, resulting in long queues stretching beyond Anand Nagar junction and causing inconvenience to motorists.
The driver noticed fumes coming from the cabin, stopped the vehicle and stepped out before the cabin was engulfed in flames.
