Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : Stepping up its campaign against water theft and wastage, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation has begun imposing spot fines, disconnecting illegal tap connections and warning of criminal action against violators.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) disconnected 39 unauthorised tap connections and imposed Rs 5,000 fine.
Those using unauthorised connections should regularise them immediately or face penal and police action,” Yedge said. “Every citizen is entitled to their rightful share of water. Water wastage and illegal connections will not be tolerated. To intensify enforcement, the civic body also conducted a special training programme for its staff under the guidance of municipal commissioner G Sreekanth Yedge and additional commissioner Kalpita Pimple.
Wednesday’s action follows an earlier inspection in Asefia Colony, where officials found treated water flowing onto the road.
