Pune: A 19-year-old youth died by suicide after the husband of a married woman with whom he was allegedly in a relationship came to know about their affair, Pune Rural police said. Police investigations revealed that the youth had allegedly purchased the firearm from his friend about a month ago.
“Our investigations are on,” the officer said. Pune Rural police have registered a case against the youth and his friend, from whom he had allegedly purchased the pistol, under relevant sections of the Arms Act. The incident took place at the youth’s rented accommodation in Baramati on Saturday evening. He was initially taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune, where he succumbed to his bullet injuries during treatment on Sunday.
An officer from the Pune Rural police said the youth, who hailed from Pandharpur, was working at a godown of a courier firm. The youth had been under stress since then and had spoken about it to his roommate,” the officer said. “The youth succumbed to his bullet injuries on Sunday,” he said.
“The victim was in a relationship with a married woman. When her husband came to know about the relationship, he drove her out of the house. On Saturday, when the youth was in his bedroom, he allegedly shot himself in the head with a pistol, the officer said.
