Palakkad : A 30-year-old tribal man from Attappady died at Thrissur Medical College Hospital on Saturday following complications associated with sickle cell disease and jaundice. The deceased was identified as Suresh , a native of Vellamari in Kottathara, Attappady. He had been suffering from sickle cell disease, a genetic disorder, since childhood. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to Palakkad district hospital around noon and later referred to Thrissur Medical College Hospital for specialised treatment. Doctors also diagnosed him with jaundice. Suresh leaves behind his father Radhakrishnan, mother Rangi, wife Chelsi, who is six months pregnant, and their three-year-old son Dhruv. Suresh was admitted to Kottathara Tribal Speciality Hospital on Friday morning after developing high fever and diarrhoea.
