Sivaganga : A 39-year-old worker died after collapsing at a fertiliser manufacturing unit in Sipcot industrial estate near Manamadurai in Sivaganga district on Monday.
He was employed at the Aqua Agri fertiliser plant and was reportedly engaged in pouring a chemical liquid into a fertiliser production machine when he suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed. Police have registered a case and have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death and are probing whether exposure to toxic fumes or any other workplace-related factor led to the incident. Police identified the deceased as Jesudoss of Utharappuli village near Sivaganga. Download the TOI App.
Co-workers rushed him to a private hospital in Manamadurai, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body was later sent to the Sivaganga Government Medical College Hospital for postmortem examination.
