Thodupuzha : A grade sub-inspector attached to the Thodupuzha police station, K Vijesh, has been suspended following a complaint alleging that he shared a social media post containing derogatory and communal remarks. The action was taken based on a complaint submitted by the Youth League Thodupuzha constituency committee to the Thodupuzha deputy superintendent of police and the Idukki district police chief.

The complainants alleged that the SI had shared the image in a manner similar to the Sangh Parivar-related campaign surrounding the post. an incident had taken place in Palarivattom and that the photograph was reportedly from an incident in Bengaluru in 2024, the complainants said.

District police chief A Naseem said the officer had been directed to submit a report at the earliest and that further action, including departmental proceedings, would be taken based on the findings. The Munnar DSP has been entrusted with the inquiry. The complaint pertains to a photograph that had recently been circulated on the social media with the claim that a ‘woman wearing a headscarf was kicking apart a floral decoration’ in Palarivattom. The SI later deleted the post.
