Aranmula Vallasadya
A total of 553 Vallasadyas were held at Aranmula temple from July 19 to Sept 16, organisers said. Over 1.75 lakh people participated during the course of the event, according to them. Devotees enjoy this year’s last Aranmula Vallasadya, which took place on Sept 16 At the concluding ceremony held on a special stage at Anakkottil at 12.10pm, Pallayoda Seva Sangham president K V Sambadevan inaugurated the rituals by lighting the bhadradeepam on the nilavilakku, using a lamp brought from the sreekovil by the temple melsanthi.
BJP state general secretary Anoop Antony was the chief guest. Sangham office-bearers served the ceremonial sadya on plantain leaves, following which vallasadya commenced at Sadyalayam. Umayattukara Palliyodam departed from the temple ghat around 3pm, marking the formal conclusion of the event, with Sangham office-bearers bidding farewell with betel leaf and tobacco. The seven palliyodams that took part on the concluding day were seen off with packets of rice flakes and banana bunches.
Kottayam: Aranmula Vallasadya, jointly conducted by Aranmula Palliyoda Seva Sangham and Travancore Devaswom Board, concluded at Parthasarathy temple in Aranmula on Wednesday.
