Madurai : As many as 12 students fainted while holding a protest seeking permanent classrooms at the government arts college for women in Sivaganga district on Wednesday. More than 300 students are studying BBA in the college situated inside the collectorate campus, according to sources. Owing to scorching heat, 12 students fainted.
However, there were insufficient classrooms. Though they had requested the college authorities to provide them with sufficient and permanent classrooms, no steps were taken. So, the students held a sit-in protest inside the campus. Since the college entrance gate was locked, fellow students broke the lock and rushed the students who had fainted to the Sivaganga Government Medical College Hospital. All the students underwent treatment at the hospital and are in a stable condition. Following the protest, the college authorities held talks with the students and assured allocation of classrooms for the BBA students.
