Bribe demands persist at GRH
Patients and their attendants told TOI that demands for money to facilitate routine services remain a recurring concern, adding to the difficulties faced by families already dealing with medical emergencies and prolonged hospital stays. Hospital authorities acknowledged receiving complaints from the public and said strict action has been taken against staff found indulging in such practices. Madurai : Allegations of bribery continue to plague Govt Rajaji Hospital (GRH) in Madurai despite repeated disciplinary action against staff involved in corrupt practices. Some hospital workers seek unofficial payments for assistance related to patient care and other services within the hospital. The issue has created frustration among patients who rely on the govt hospital for affordable treatment. They urged patients and attendants not to pay bribes under any circumstances and to immediately report such incidents to the hospital administration through the designated grievance phone numbers for prompt action.
