Coimbatore engineering college student electrocuted while dancing: The wider industry impact

Amilthan’s father, Anbumani, 50, of Dharapuram, lodged a complaint with the Thudiyalur police on Sunday.

Police said A Amilthan, a final-year BE (EEE) student at a private engineering college in Vattamalaipalayam, was staying in the college hostel. He was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Another student, identified as Saran, who attempted to rescue Amilthan, also suffered an electric shock. Saran was also rushed to hospital. Later, he was discharged. In his complaint, Anbumani stated that those who brought the DJ equipment, the hostel warden and the college management had failed to ensure proper safety arrangements, resulting in his son’s death.

COIMBATORE: A student died after suffering an electric shock while attending an annual function at a private engineering college hostel near Thudiyalur here on Saturday night. Around 9pm on Saturday, he was attending the hostel annual function and dancing near DJ equipment when he suffered an electric shock and fell.
