Kochi : Vigilance and anti-corruption bureau (VACB) has identified that a joint commissioner of state goods and services tax (GST) department at Thevara in Ernakulam allegedly amassed illicit assets worth Rs 2.89 crore, disproportionate to her known lawful sources of income. VACB on Saturday raided the residences and office of Prajani Rajan and seized Rs 14.10 lakh in unaccounted cash and $788 from her residence at Pachalam in Ernakulam. The searches began at 7.45am and concluded at 9.15pm on Saturday. Vigilance director Manoj Abraham has urged the public to report any information related to corruption to vigilance department’s toll-free number 1064; 8592900900; or its WhatsApp number 9447789100.

The vigilance team conducted the inspections under the supervision of Ernakulam special cell superintendent of police M J Sojan and was led by deputy superintendent of police A L Yesudas. A preliminary investigation by the vigilance department had found that between 2014 and 2024, Rajan had allegedly amassed illicit assets worth Rs 2.89 crore, according to VACB. As part of the investigation based on these findings, raids were conducted on Saturday at three locations: the GST joint commissioner’s office at Thevara, Rajan’s residence at Pachalam and another house, also at Pachalam, belonging to her.
