Idukki : Former minister K B Ganesh Kumar launched a scathing attack on NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair, describing his actions as “cheap” and accusing the present NSS leadership of being “cruel and cowardly. “Many resolutions were passed against me, but I will not run away out of fear,” Ganesh Kumar said, adding that those currently occupying top positions in NSS were targeting even those who stood by them. Referring to the perception that only lawyers could become NSS general secretary, Ganesh Kumar said, “It has now been proved that even those who have not passed Class X can occupy the post. He said women should also come forward to contest elections and demanded that Mannam Samadhi be opened to everyone.
He alleged that Sukumaran Nair had a particular affinity for the education minister from Indian Union Muslim League, while questioning his attitude towards the Muslim community. Ganesh Kumar also called for democratic elections within NSS and urged members to question leaders when they commit wrongdoing. The former minister was accorded a reception at the panchayat office before being taken in a procession to the NSS auditorium. Vandanmedu Rahmaniya Muslim Jama-at also received him.
Ganesh Kumar was speaking at the inauguration of the silver jubilee celebrations of Vandanmedu NSS Karayogam on Sunday.
