Chennai: A 37-year-old A-category history-sheeter was arrested on Monday after he posted reels on social media threatening to kill two gangsters who had murdered his brother in 2020. The reels were styled like TV crime news reports and warned that the two men would soon be beheaded.
The arrested man, Ruben, 37, of Pulianthope, has 21 criminal cases, including three murder cases, two attempted murder cases and two attempted ATM robbery cases, pending against him. Police said Ruben’s brother, Kavankarai Ramesh alias Nai Ramesh, a history-sheeter registered with Puzhal police station, was murdered in 2020 by two A-category gangsters, Garden Sarath and Abinesh, in the same locality. The two were convicted in the murder case and subsequently released from prison after serving their sentences.
Seeking to avenge his brother’s murder, Ruben recently uploaded a series of reels on social media. After receiving information about the videos, personnel from the anti-gangsters team traced Ruben and arrested him.
