TET certificate verification delay holds up promotions, benefits

In Madurai district alone, around 3,000 teachers who passed the examination are awaiting genuineness certificates, according to the Tamil Nadu Aided Non-Minority School Teachers Federation. Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) conducted the special TET for serving teachers on July 4 and 5 and declared the results on October 12.

However, the federation said the subsequent verification of these certificates by education authorities remained pending, preventing teachers from getting their qualifications formally recorded in their service registers (SR). Sivagnanam said the announcement of another TET examination had also created confusion among some teachers awaiting formal confirmation of their qualification. “We are working to complete and issue the certificates as soon as possible,” the official said.

Madurai: Thousands of teachers who cleared the special teacher eligibility test (TET) are awaiting authentication of their certificates, delaying promotions and service benefits, particularly in government-aided schools across Tamil Nadu . Successful candidates were allowed to download their electronic eligibility certificates five days later. The federation urged the school education department to instruct district educational offices to expedite pending verification requests and ensure that the qualifications of successful candidates were recorded without further delay. A senior education department official attributed the backlog to the volume of certificates requiring verification.
