The accused, Priyanka’s husband Prince , 32, has been taken into police custody in connection with the two killings.
Prince allegedly carried out the attack amid ongoing tensions within the family, according to the police. Neighbours reportedly said there had been disputes in the family for about a week before the incident. Priyanka, who had been working as a domestic help abroad, had returned a week ago, according to the information available so far.
The incident took place around 8pm at a line house near the anganwadi on the estate. The police also suspect that Prince was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the attack. Officers from the Peermade police station reached the spot, initiated legal proceedings and began an investigation into the killings. They are also looking into the circumstances that led to the attack and the sequence of events preceding it.
