Around 5,000 pattayams (land titles) that face no legal or administrative hurdles would be distributed soon, he said. Around 60% of the issues concerning land in Idukki had already been addressed, while the remaining issues could be resolved relatively easily, Satheesan said.
Govt will expedite the distribution of pattayams and take steps to resolve legal hurdles, including those arising from Supreme Court and high court judgments, he said. The survey process will also be accelerated by providing additional staff and facilities, including vehicles, he said. Govt will distinguish between land encroachers and settler farmers, the CM said, adding that encroachment would not be permitted under any circumstances.
Satheesan was speaking at a meeting of elected representatives and officials convened at the district collectorate to review land-related issues in Idukki. The CM added that he will personally intervene to facilitate favourable decisions in such matters. He directed officials to settle them within a stipulated timeframe. At the same time, govt will stand by settler farmers in addressing their genuine difficulties.
