The session will review the party’s future programme of action, with 130 district delegates taking part. The report is also learnt to have called for updated fund-raising methods, sources said.
The drift of backward communities, including Ezhavas, in the assembly polls is also flagged in the party’s internal report, sources said. The corrective document approved by the state committee will be presented, followed by two days of discussion. The meeting marks the second phase of CPM’s course-correction exercise and comes after the party’s heavy defeats in the Lok Sabha, local body and assembly elections, which have reportedly deepened cracks in its traditional base. Sections within the party allege the district leadership has not acted with adequate seriousness on organisational matters, with membership enrolment and party programmes falling largely on grassroots activists.
