Ali said he had sent Sudhakaran a lawyer’s notice seeking one rupee in damages, saying the token amount was meant to establish the integrity of his public record rather than seek compensation.
Denying Sudhakaran’s allegations linking him to drug smuggling, the CPM functionary threatened to make counter-disclosures against the party rebel. He gave Sudhakaran six months to substantiate the allegation, saying he would quit public life if it was proved true. Ali warned that if the campaign against him continued, he would go public with further material, including phone records, against Sudhakaran. He alleged he possessed evidence of a fabricated social media post targeting a woman public representative, and of an attempt to suppress a case involving a girl’s death by suicide in Thottappally. Ali added that Sudhakaran would have reason to hang his head in shame if such matters concerning him were raised. No response from Sudhakaran was available at the time of filing.
