ERODE: The vision of making India a fully developed nation by 2047 will be a reality if communities foster a shared responsibility for this, Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan said on Saturday. Radhakrishnan said although many people had initially doubted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India an economic powerhouse, the country has emerged as the world’s fifth-largest economy after 12 years of sustained efforts.

“You become what you think,” he said, quoting Swami Vivekananda .

The Vice President said, “A society becomes truly progressive when its individuals share their success with those around them. The Vice-President was speaking at the Founder’s Day celebrations at the Kongu Vellalar Institute of Technology Trust (KVITT) at Perundurai in Erode district. Emphasising the critical need for a selfless and civic-minded society, he called upon citizens to look beyond their personal gains and work actively for the welfare of others. He highlighted the collective power of community-driven service to shape the nation’s future. Living for yourself is not a sin, but living only for yourself is a sin.”
