Madurai: DMK MP Kanimozhi on Friday accused chief minister C Joseph Vijay of failing to ensure public safety amid a series of violent crimes, dubbing his administration a “reels govt”. Calling Tuticorin a “killing field,” she urged Vijay to entrust policing to someone competent. Speaking to reporters following a woman’s murder near Sathankulam, Kanimozhi said people faced an ‘atmosphere of insecurity’ despite Vijay’s assurances.
In an X post, she cited the stoning of a youth at Kulasekarapattinam Dasara festival, a fisherman’s murder in Threspuram and a sickle attack on a watchman in Srivaikuntam. She also accused the govt of breaking election promises and failing to curb alcohol-related crimes. Download the TOI App.
