The consultancy is expected to complete the study within 10 months of commencement. The study will evaluate a proposed second runway’s alignment, length, orientation and spacing from the existing runway, along with the taxiway network, runway crossing locations, drainage, additional aprons, terminal locations and associated land requirements. The master plan has been awarded to Jacobs Solutions India Private Ltd through an e-tender process, and work has already commenced. Surface connectivity forms a significant part of the study. The consultant will examine the mix of passengers using private cars, taxis, buses, rail and other modes, along with future road networks, rail augmentation, new stations, phased metro connectivity, potential inland-waterway links and emerging urban mobility platforms. Options for future cityside development, including possible new fronts to the north or south, congestion-free highway access and phased rearrangement of facilities, will also be explored.
