Kochi: City police intensified inspections as part of Operation Toofan, conducting raids at 153 locations during a special combing operation on Sunday night. Police registered 34 cases and arrested 37 people.
The raids led to the seizure of 13.83g of MDMA and 91.84g of cannabis. At a lodge within Cheranalloor police station limits, officers seized 13.25g of MDMA from Sharon A P, 31, of Mulavukad, Ernakulam. The operation targeted places suspected of drug use, individuals involved in drug use and sale, and houses linked to such activities. Thirteen people were also detained for allegedly consuming cannabis. The arrest was made by Cheranalloor SHO Vishwajith, ASI Shibu and civil police officers Anil Kumar, Dileep Kumar and Sindhya. The operation was conducted on the directions of city police commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar, and under the supervision of DCPs Arun K Pavithran and Mohit Rawat. Selected personnel from all police stations in Kochi, along with members of the district anti-narcotics special action force (Dansaf), participated in the raids.
