Kochi : Four police personnel were injured while attempting to resolve a clash involving a group of youngsters and a woman in Kalamassery early on Monday.
The cops were on patrol when they received information about three youths and a woman fighting on the road around 1.20am, according to the complaint.
Two men attacked the officers and damaged a patrol jeep, according to the police. The officers were trying to make the two accused enter a police jeep when the assault occurred, according to the police. One of the accused allegedly abused the officer, smashed the left-side mirror of the police jeep and damaged the adjacent antenna, according to the complaint filed by the SI.
The injured officers were identified as SI Sam Lessly, SCPO Sreejith and CPOs Arjun and Basil. The case pertains to a clash that occurred in Njalakam at Thrikkakara North. He also allegedly twisted the officer’s left hand and hit him on the head with a mobile phone, causing him to fall forward. Police alleged that the accused acted together with the intention of obstructing the officers from discharging their official duties and causing them physical harm. Police registered a related FIR in connection with the clash as well. The officers reached the spot and attempted to separate the group.
