Kochi : Perumbavoor Police have launched an investigation after the burnt body of a 63-year-old woman was found on the premises of her house on Monday morning.

A bottle containing fuel was also recovered near the body, police said. Police said they couldn’t find any evidence that indicated any forced entry into the house. The deceased was Nirmala Bhai of Poppani Road, Perumbavoor. The family noticed that she was missing in the morning. They later found her burnt body in the compound. The body will be handed over to the relatives after postmortem, police added. Download the TOI App.
The family members last saw Nirmala when she went to sleep on Sunday night after dinner, according to the police.
Officers said they are not ruling out any possibilities, including suicide and murder. Further investigation was required to ascertain how exactly the woman died, police said. Perumbavoor Police have registered a case of unnatural death.
