Kochi : A team of five students from Assisi Vidyaniketan Public School, Kakkanad, will showcase an innovative e-waste management model at a two-day-long international youth climate programme at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, on Nov 19 and 20.
Speaking to TOI, Class XII student Amar said the team initially organised activities such as a festival featuring a treasure hunt and poster-making competition to engage young people in discussions on e-waste management and climate action. The team, NOVARA, will participate in the Youth Climate Diplomacy Programme, which aims to engage young people in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.
The initiative focuses on raising awareness about the environmental impact of electronic waste and encouraging responsible disposal practices. The team aims to demonstrate how locally developed solutions can contribute to broader climate action goals, including the United Nations’ sustainable development goals.
Participation in the international programme is expected to give the students an opportunity to present their work to a global audience, exchange ideas with young climate advocates and learn about environmental initiatives being implemented in other parts of the world.
