Police said the initiative was intended to make medical screening accessible to women personnel, whose work schedules could make regular health checks difficult. Madurai: Women police personnel in Madurai underwent health screening and mental health consultation as part of a programme aimed at addressing medical issues linked to their work. “Women police personnel face workload, occupational stress and various psychological challenges in their profession. The personnel underwent mammography, ECG, ECHO, ultrasound and other general health screening. They were also offered ENT, dental and eye examinations besides psychiatric consultation. Surgical oncologist S G Balamurugan also held an awareness session on cancer symptoms, periodic examinations and early detection. Ramasubramaniam also spoke about counselling and support offered through the Magilchi programme for police personnel. The organisers also arranged for CPR and life-saving training for personnel. The camp was conducted in association with Guru Hospitals, Tark Hospital, Harshini Hospital, Neels Dental Hospital and M S Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation. Download the TOI App.
