Man catches fire while hurling petrol bomb

Police later arrested 23-year-old Nagarjun in connection with the incident, which occurred around midnight. A petrol bomb attack in Sholavandan backfired on the accused after he caught fire while hurling the explosive at a house opposite Kamarajar Middle School and fled with burn injuries.

Madurai: A 23-year-old man accused of hurling a petrol bomb at a house in Sholavandan near Madurai was injured himself after catching fire during the attack and was later arrested by police. Madurai district police said in a release that a petrol bomb was thrown at the house of Sathishkannan, 36, on Periya Kadai Veedhi, around 12.45am on Friday. The accused, later identified as Nagarjun, 23, son of Sangili, also caught fire during the incident and fled with burn injuries.

A case was registered at Sholavandan police station. Police later arrested Nagarjun and are questioning him to ascertain the motive behind the attack and whether others were involved.
