Police said on Thursday that they had arrested all five accused in the case, including Devi (27), the wife of Gunasekharan, who is suspected of having orchestrated the crime. The accused reached the tourist home at 2.45pm on Sept 22. Later, during the early hours of Sept 23, two of the accused allegedly took her in a car and sexually assaulted her again near Tiruppur bus stand.

Police found that the incident was allegedly recorded on video and the duo threatened to upload the footage online and frame her in a drug case if she reported the crime.

Police also said the accused impersonated a police officer to abduct Gunasekharan and the woman, who were staying at a tourist home in Thrissur. The complainant had a long-standing relationship with Gunasekharan, which led to disputes between Gunasekharan and his wife, the primary accused, according to preliminary information received by the police. City commissioner Nakul Rajendra Deshmukh said the complaint was initially registered at Nilambur Police Station as the woman was admitted at a hospital there.
