Rain leaves Madurai roads muddy, waterlogged ahead of monsoon: The wider industry impact

Two consecutive nights of rain have left unfinished and recently patched roads across Madurai covered in mud and wastewater, disrupting travel and raising concerns over the durability of road repairs ahead of the monsoon.

A senior corporation official said pumps were being deployed when waterlogging or sewage complaints were received. “We are inspecting sewage pipelines to identify weak points before the monsoon and carrying out emergency repairs wherever required,” the official said. The road had earlier been dug up for pipeline installation.
