Kochi/Thiruvananthapuram: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has reportedly registered two Enforcement Case Information Reports (ECIRs) against former chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and former minister P A Mohamed Riyas in the CMRL-Exalogic monthly pay-off and hawala cases. The move follows the registration of two Vigilance cases, in which Vijayan and Riyas are the first accused. The ED will investigate the two cases separately. Meanwhile, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) has formed two special investigation teams to probe the cases based on information provided by the ED. SP E N Suresh will head the team probing alleged payments by Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) to Veena’s company, Exalogic Solutions, during the first Pinarayi govt. The ED had alleged that the payments amounted to illegal gratification intended for Vijayan. Veena is the second accused, while CMRL MD S Sasidharan Kartha is also among the accused. SP Balakrishnan will lead the team probing allegations that Riyas accumulated illicit funds and transferred them abroad through hawala channels. Riyas is the first accused and Veena the second accused in this case. His associates are among the other accused. Download the TOI App.
