TARATDAC, Madurai City unit, has strongly condemned the TVK-led Tamil Nadu government for excluding persons with disabilities from the newly launched ‘Vettri Payanam’ free bus travel scheme.
“We were shocked to find the promise was not kept when the scheme was expanded on Oct 2.
“The initial announcement in the Assembly said free travel was granted to women, children and transgender people. Following statewide demonstrations by TARATDAC, the govt promised during the budget demands that the scheme would be extended to disabled individuals as well,” said district secretary Balamurugan .
