Kochi: The Travancore devaswom board (TDB) has submitted before the high court a detailed order outlining measures to clear the long-pending backlog of ‘padi puja’ registrations at Sabarimala temple , including conducting a minimum of five such rituals daily and digitising the list of devotees to remove the names of deceased persons.
the court warned against superficial patching and insisted on a proper technical assessment, strengthening of failed pavement, and adequate drainage While Rs 15 crore has been allotted. The matter has been posted for further hearing on Sept 16.
Separately, the bench expressed grave concern over the 4km Chalakkayam-Pamba road, describing it as “pitiable” and “riddled with potholes”. The PWD was directed to submit a detailed execution plan. The court also ordered the immediate demolition of an unauthorised petty shop at Koprakalam operating in unhygienic conditions and directed the clearance of accumulated earth from the devaswom school compound.
