Sivaganga: Police on Saturday arrested three more people in the double murder case reported near Paiyur in Sivaganga district, taking the total number of arrests to 13. On Wednesday, Deivendran, 27, of Kalaiyarkovil, and Poopandi, 25, of Siruvelangudi, were hacked to death by an unidentified gang. Following further leads, the team arrested Pasumpon, 19, and Raja, 21, of Pillur and a 16-year-old minor on Saturday.
Police said that two men were murdered in a case of mistaken identity. After a drunken brawl with a man named Surya , the main suspect, Satheesh , returned to the scene seeking revenge. Mistaking the victims for Surya’s group, the attackers hacked the duo to death.
A police team arrested five suspects on Thursday and another five on Friday.
